About Us

Hi, we’re Larry and Alex! After decades dedicated to education—me as a Speech Pathology and Audiology professor at Auburn University and Alex as a Speech and Language teacher—we’ve embraced retirement as a chance to see the world together. Traveling has always been a passion of ours, and now we’re making it a more frequent pastime, one adventure at a time.

Throughout my career, I had the honor of being recognized as a world-renowned expert in my field, sharing research, mentoring students, and traveling for conferences. Those journeys ignited my passion for exploring new places. Alex, meanwhile, spent her years shaping young minds and making a lasting impact as an educator. Now, she brings her vibrant energy and enthusiasm to our travels, much like she does on the pickleball court when we’re back home.

As avid Auburn University sports fans, we’ve cheered on the Tigers through every victory and heartbreak—and we’re always looking for ways to connect with fellow fans wherever we go. On top of that, my days as an amateur hot air balloonist taught me to see the world from a unique perspective, and Alex’s curiosity and love of exploring new destinations make every destination even more special.

From bustling cities to serene landscapes, we’re all about experiencing different cultures, savoring unique cuisines, and embracing the surprises along the way. Through this blog, The Meadering Molts, we hope to share our stories, inspire your own adventures, and show that life after 9-to-5 can be filled with endless possibilities.

Thanks for stopping by and joining us on this journey. War Eagle, and let’s explore the world together!
